Senior Commercialization Advisor
Mr. Person is a Senior Commercialization Advisor on the NobleReach Emerge team. He served in a similar capacity at In-Q-Tel Emerge, prior to its merger with NobleReach. Before this current role, Mr. Person worked in the semiconductor industry for 35 years, during which time he held leadership positions in manufacturing engineering and operations, product marketing, corporate development, and investment banking.
He served as manufacturing manager at Intergraph Corporation’s Advanced Processor Division where he was responsible for manufacturing engineering and production operations supporting the Clipper family of RISC microprocessors and memory system controllers. At LSI Logic, he held product line management and product marketing management positions with responsibility for developing and managing ASIC, mixed-signal IP, and advanced packaging product lines.
Later at LSI Logic, Mr. Person led the corporate development team with global responsibility for corporate venture capital investments and mergers & acquisitions (M&A). He also served as VP of Corporate Development and Strategic Planning at Virage Logic, and later as Head of Corporate Development at Xilinx, where he was responsible for inorganic growth strategies, M&A, and Xilinx Ventures. Between his tenures at Virage Logic and Xilinx, Mr. Person worked in investment banking at GrowthPoint Technology Partners, where he advised clients in the semiconductor industry on a range of strategic and operational topics.
Over the years, Mr. Person has initiated and led equity investments in 28 semiconductor and software startup companies, totaling approximately $80 million in deployed capital. He has also served as a board observer and advisor to many of these companies. Additionally, Mr. Person has acquired and integrated 14 companies with aggregate transaction values totaling around $2 billion.
Mr. Person started his career as a field engineer at Schlumberger, where he provided wireline well logging and completion services to oil and gas companies operating in the Gulf of Mexico region. Mr. Person earned an MBA from Santa Clara University and a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the University of Mississippi. He served as an advisor on the University of Mississippi’s Engineering School Advisory Board.
